My husband and I are trying to find out about Richmond Virginia. How many frum families? How reasonable is the housing? What type of families are there? Any other major pros or cons to be aware of? Thanks.

I'm interested in finding out about the boys' school there, so I'll pay attention to this thread.

It is a pretty small frum community. I would say 50 shomer shabbos families max.
That being said, we are a very warm community. The day school is really great, my kids are learning limudei kodesh and secular studies in a warm nurturing environment.
Marina, I don't have a son old enough for the high school but I will say that the staff at the high school really impresses me. It looks like the boys have a real relationship with their rebbe's.

The major pro is the low cost of living. Homes in the eruv go for 250 to 300 k. . rents are higher than mortgages, though. A house might cost 1500 to 1600 to rent.
No kosher restaurants either.
I love it though....a Brooklyn girl( till about a year ago)
