Why?
As the video illustrates, no matter what Israel or the President of the US does, Palestinians continue to want eradication of Jews and Israel more than they want to live peacefully side by side. Until THAT changes, there is no more chance of peace than before.

I feel as you do, but there are those who were hoping Netanyahu would lose (Obama among them) and that would lead to a greater chance of peace.
With the race being tight, it seems many in Israel werent ready to eliminate Netanyahu and please Obama.
