I make cholent or dafina every week and alternate to switch it up, but we are all just so tired of them. What is an alternative to these that I can also do in the crock pot? We love Indian food. We don't eat meat. I am open to suggestions.

I make this for a weeknight meal. http://www.myrecipes.com/recip.....curry

I bet you could make it for shabbos lunch too.

I make soup in the crock pot - mushroom barley, split pea, veggie. Love having hot soup on a cold shabbos day.

This looks great. I never thought of using the Indian spices for a traditional cholent. I'm going to try it for a weeknight meal this week and see how it goes. I'm hopeful!

Please let me know how it goes, if you remember! I'm very curious!

This looks tasty. I'm usually out of the house for about 9-10 hours each day. Do you think it would work being on low that time? The recipe says 6 on high.

IMHO, you can never go wrong with curried ANYTHING. A nice briyani rice on the side, a simple salad, and you're all set.
