Your best way to survive a fire is to prevent a fire from starting in the first place.
Check if your electricity is up to date. Check if your appliances are good and wires not frayed.
When leaving a fire or hot plate on make sure there is nothing flammable nearby. (Formica counters are flammable)
Make sure kids cannot access fire causing devices such as matches, stove knobs, pots on the stove, Shabbos candles, menorahs, etc.
Make sure your smoke detectors are working just in case.
If you make sure your house is safe in these ways you have an almost impossible chance of having a fire. You don't need to worry.
