Can I wear summery ( beige and off white ) dress to a friend's simcha next week? The weather hasn't been playing along.

I would base it on the weather, not on the calendar.

A lot of these fashion don'ts have flown out the window. That said, if it's cold out and your wearing a white linen dress and sandals you might look a bit off.

Also don't wear a white dress to a wedding.

I stick to the old fashioned rules about when to wear black shoes or white shoes, etc.

I live in Seattle, where we get rain 10 months out of the year, so I don't dress summery until mid July!

(Seriously, I iron my linen clothes once, wear them, and by the time they need to be washed and ironed again, it's fall already.) Confused

Good news for you! We don't have those rules in Israel.

Yes, you can wear it. Nowadays winter is white, etc...the rules don't matter so much anymore.
It might depend where you live, or how much you care. If you want to be on the safe side- then I wouldn't advise it. But there's nothing wrong with it IMO.

Check the weather, you may need a matching sweater or shawl.

if it makes you happy - wear it ... there's always coats & indoor heating ... [leave off any open shoes if it's snowing]

According to the rules, you have to wear black 24/7 all year round.
