A 13 year old girl is starting outpatient chemo this week. Any ideas of how to keep her entertained during those long hrs in the hospital?

what is she "in" to? The organizations are great, but if she could have a hobby to work on (depending on how debilitated she is) it can be helpful. When I was a girl, I had a really bad case of hepatitis and I was in the hospital a while. My aunt taught me to needlepoint and do some fancy stitches. It was nice to be busy with it.

Call your local chai lifeline. Look on their website to find out which branch the girl lives/is being treated in. They might be able to send games, arts and crafts, (kosher if needed) videos, a big sister to sit with her, plus meals and support to the whole family (who may not realize they need it!siblings really get affected!). And they'll let her know about Camp Simcha! (If not this year then next!)

Also, maybe find out what she likes to do- computers, videos, arts and crafts, sketch pads, books.... However, Many fall asleep after the first few trips or will be too sick to want to do anything FYI.
