Has any one tried this before
It was a big hit. All my guests loved it
It's great for hot shabbat summer days
Tilapia cut into cubes. I calculate 1/2 fillet per person.
Bottled lemon juice
Place telapia in a NON metal container, plastic or glass ok.
Fill the container with lemon juice to cover telapia.
Let this marinate in the fridge over night, until the fish turns white.
The fish is now "cooked" in lemon juice.
Drain well and discard lemon juice.
Dice:
Tomato, cucumber, peppers all colors, red onion (optional), parsley
Mix fish with salad add lemon, salt and pepper to taste
Place in a big bowl and decorate with slices of avocado on top, or you can serve it in half avocado.

Thanks for reminding me. I have made it before and it was delicious. The kids didn't agree but DH and I loved it.

Personally I would use cod fillets rather than tilapia. Use fresh rather than frozen fillets that are defrosted. Also fresh lime juice (that's what they use in Peru) has much higher acidity than bottled lemon juice. Herb used is coriander (cilantro), rather than parsley. I haven't made them for a while but they're lovely. A small serving goes a long way, as it is quite strongly flavoured.

Just checked my peruvian jewish friend. It's not popcorn but roasted cornnuts. (I always think of it as maybe something Ruth ate during harvesting in fields in Megillat Ruth).
