If, like me, you are not a big fan of the shell look, and you want a cute new dress for Hanukah parties, here are some tznius dresses from ModCloth.

Mine is certainly below the knee.

I haven't noticed the length, and I'm sure it depends on how tall you are. What I have noticed in my neighborhood is that stylish women are much more careful with collars and sleeve length than with skirt length, and will often wear above the knee skirts while looking totally yeshivish otherwise (shaitel, tights, collar, sleeves). I also see dresses with shorter skirts sold in frum stores. I assume it's de facto ok.

Also, a flared skirt looks modest even if it's a bit above the knee. Can't say the same for a straight skirt.

But yeah, I definitely recommend the last one. You can wear it anywhere.

Those are great. My husband's favorite dress (of mine, haha) is from ModCloth.

I recently bought a dress from this site:

http://shop.mode-sty.com/

It's a collection of tznius dresses and skirts. I like that each item has detailed measurements re: neckline, sleeve length, skirt length, etc., so you don't have to guess whether it'll fit with your tznius requirements. The clothes are aimed at Muslim and Jewish women, and there are some Israeli designers included. You can register with a profile where you detail what kinds of clothes you're interested (I.e. elbow length sleeves, 3/4 sleeves only, etc.) and it'll filter the dresses for you. Some items are pricey but I love how stylish they all are.

I also love this designer's clothes: https://www.etsy.com/listing/2....._shop

I bought one of her belted dresses (a little expensive, but they are all handmade) and it's super versatile because it can actually work perfectly as either a regular dress, or a maternity dress (which is what I need right now).

Sweetpotato, I've seen Tamar Landau's dresses online before — very pleasing styles. How do sizes run? How is your dress holding up?

Rubber Ducky, I've only worn mine once so far, so I can't comment how it holds up long term yet. The material is very drapey/stretchy and almost feels like swimsuit material but it's not clingy and the dress feels well made. For sizes, she just offers S/M/L and I think they are fairly generous. A small would probably fit someone who wears a size 2-6 or 8, for example. I'm pleased with the dress I got-- it's really simple but flattering.

Could be a lot of what looks like a dress that is short is meant to be a tunic over a straight skirt?

Another place to try is eshakti.com, you can customize most of their dresses to have longer sleeves and hems - and custom measurements in general, which is a bracha for people like me with odd proportions.

I'm jealous. I hate being tall. It's impossible to find cute dresses that cover my knees and are not maxis.

Same! So annoying! It just so happens that mid calf length pencil skirts look amazing on me, but I can't find any anywhere. If it's mid calf it's dumpy and if it's pencil style it's too short. Wish there were a store for us!
