I want to cook my son's bar mitzvah myself. I find that homecooked food is just better, maybe even cheaper. Any idea of what I can make that is nice and would freeze well? How early can I cook and freeze that it will taste good?
Thanks

Up to two months before. Really depends on how you wrap it and what dishes you are freezing. Some are better frozen seasoned and raw and ready to bake, others ok frozen ready. Some things don't freeze well.

Challah, most soups and meat in sauce, all freeze nicely.

meatballs, chicken nuggets in sauce, meat roast all freeze well once cooked. Whole chicken pieces I would season and freeze in trays ready to cook.
rice, orzo, kugels all freeze well too.

I cooked for both my son's bar mitzvahs.
Challah
soup
Knaidlach
roast
Carrot/pumpkin kugel
potato kugel
orzo
Dessert
All these things can be frozen if wrapped well.

wow! THank you all! I was wondering about 3 months before. But 2 months before should be okay too! I am due 6 weeks before that , SO I am trying to figure out if I am attempting too much!
