Anyone know about the process? If a child has an IEP in the US and is making aliyah too close to the school year to get evaluated in Israel, is there any hope of getting accepted on the American school's recommendation? Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Disclaimer: Not sure how it works with a diagnosis made abroad:
Usually you need to get an evaluation and recommendation for gan safa from the kuppah, from the hitpachut hayeled (child development) department. Do you know to which kuppah you will belong? Perhaps you should contact them.

NBN put us in touch with Chana Zweitner who is an educational consultant and advises families on these types of issues. She was very helpful in telling us what we would need. We ended up not making aliyah but I think someone like her would be the best source of info because she does this for a living. We were also trying to get our child into a gan safa from America but we were doing it earlier in the year so she was optimistic about it working out but I am not sure about doing it closer to the school year.
