The pictures of the police officers in the Freddie Gray case in the above link show that 3 out of 6 of them were black! If so, please explain to me how racism was at play for these officers? Why is the black community claiming that racism was involved?

They aren't claiming racism. The issue is police brutality/excessive force by the cops.

Race is a factor here in that:
1) the Baltimore City police are seen as more adversarial in inner city black neighborhoods — very unlike the view of police in my integrated mostly white, middle class Baltimore City neighborhood, and
2) some blacks believe that a black man or woman joining the police is selling out — basically becoming the black equivalent of a Kapo.

All of the above. Plus, people within a race can certainly be prejudiced against others of the same. Think about self-hating Jews.
