I paid $500 about a decade ago.

I currently charge $250.
I totally feel I can charge. As I tell people, it's a labor of love...but still a labor.
I put in tons! of hours of prep and even more on the phone as follow-up.
I am there forever....it's a lifetime warrantee Wink

And the bottom line is: you're more machshiv what you pay for.
So even if I didn't have a cheshbon of needing the money for parnasah...I'd still charge at least $100.

But to each their own. I think it's nice to charge for a tzedaka.

I asked a friend of mine who went to the same kallah teacher. She said (in this particular community) it was considered "inappropriate" to pay money but it was ok to buy a gift. She said the gift should cost approximately $300. So I bought her a beautiful $300 Silver tray. I don't recall her saying thank you.

Wow, I am amazed to read the amounts people are quoting here. I got married 10 yaers ago and did not pay anything. She said to give some tzedaka in name of the class, but that was it.

Isnt 550 dollars a lot for such a thing?

I spent eleven 2-3 hour one on one sessions with her, and though it was a lot for me, it was well worth it. I was well prepared, I had someone I could call anytime, and no horror stories Smile
I guess $25-$30 an hour is not so bad. Think of it like tutoring sessions.
