Any ideas how I can fix / clean our barbecue grates? They are halfway peeled and we have not used them for a few years because of it. One summer we left the grates in the grill, unclean, and I guess the food ate away at it or rusted it or something. They are clean, I've worked really hard on them a few times, but I'm not comfortable putting good directly on them.

I've bought replacement grates a few times. Look for someone who sells the brand or contact the manufacturer. Or try googling it.

What she said.

Buy replacements. Or use the disposable ones.
