I just read about Prince Harry reuniting with a teacher who was nice to him 18 years ago.

This made me think of who among my teachers I have especially good or especially bad memories of.

Many many years later I remember a specific teacher who when I spoke in class (the rare time, I was a good kid), said "Theyre not laughing with you, theyre laughing at you". It stung like a knife.

Then there were other teachers whose encouraging comments I remember. Like a teacher who said "For you, that wasnt good enough", after I gave an answer to a question, meaning that she expected better, in a very nice praising way.

I realize teachers are human and can make mistakes, but their words, and looks they give students, and treatment of students, make a huge difference in their students' lives.
