I really need to find a good nutritionist, or weight-loss specialist to help my 15-year-old daughter lose weight. I live in Queens but would travel almost anywhere if the person is highly recommended. Any referrals/advice?

my friend who actually lived in queens traveled to the 5 towns to someone name Alize Beer. From what I understand she is EXTREMELY strict so unless your daughter is motivated it wont work but my friend lost about 20 pounds in a month

do you want this more than your daughter does?

Thank u burgundy, I might give it a try.
Apricot- I do what's best for my daughter, esp when it affects her self esteem AND health.

And giving her a phone app to count calories is good, easy, cheap and very successful. Several of my family members joined myfitnesspal.com to count calories and lost weight for free.

As someone who was an "overweight" teen, all I can tell you is be careful how you approach the subject, don't push it, and don't treat her differently than other kids just because she is overweight. It has to come from her.

If I may share, when I finally realized my husband was overweight and my teens were seriously out of shape, I changed the menu and the grocery list and started exercising in the living room.
I did it over a three month period though, so it was a gentle shift. I would buy both healthy low calorie foods while still buying the junk food. And I'd make myself and DH healthy food and junk for the kids. Until the kids started to complain, 'why do we have to eat junk food and you get to eat healthy?!" So we shared our food.
I was asked to create a workout program for everyone, which was posted in the living room. We started taking hikes and walks together.
These days, about 4 years later now, we're all health conscious, weight conscious, and fitness conscious.
When the juicer broke, my son complained.
Recently one daughter, the one who protested the most, took up jogging.

Thank you for explaining yourself apricot.
I don't do any of the things you mentioned. Actually, family members think that this is where the problem lies. That I don't push her.
