Theyre almost an inch long, and arent flying, theyre crawling on the walls of my living room (not kitchen).
Cant be ill flies, because Ive seen a few, and when we shooed them on Yom Tov, they didnt fly.
They look like typical flies, but none fly.
What are they?
How do I get rid of them?

Looks like a carpenter ant. They have wings. Get an exterminator.

Yup it's a carpenter ant. As Bronze said get an exterminator and schedule a home inspection. You may have some damage from them, they eat wood.

Im starting by putting my plants outdoors, including the new plant that I bought from a local girls school and got it right before Shavuos. It seems really strangely coincidental that these flies that dont fly appeared the same week as the new Shavuos plant.
Curious if I'll see more.
If I do see more, which exterminator is good in Brooklyn?

It may be a sign that you have termites. they usually die very soon...you can spray them with windex and they die....gotta treat the problem, though. call an extermination co. that is experienced with termites

In summary:
Termites have:
Termite
– Straight antennae
– Equal length wings
– Straight waist
View all termites
Flying ants have:
Flying ant
– Bent antennae
– Unequal length wings
– Pinched waist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hoping its not a termite.
What Im seeing definitely have a "Bent antennae" and "thin abdomen" and more resemble the flying ants I think.
Hatches of carpenter ants are based on the temp. of the nest. They usually don't come in on plants because of the lack of wood or wood products.
Carpenter ants - I speak from experience.
They do not "eat" wood, they take advantage of wood that already has dry rot. Your problem is bigger than you think, and you need an inspector ASAP.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
