I voted. They have over 70,000 votes!! I don't think anyone else come close to them - It comes from being part of a large dati "community" (includes us too). Other people aren't part of such a large "family". Plus they have 4 kids who need it. If you look at the other stories, they're sad too but one small child doesn't need the van as much.

Sanguine, I did check some of the other entries out, and while you all know who will have my votes, I pray for everyone.

There's another Jewish condender - Tamar Swerdlik from Far Rockaway.

Sanguine, I do not think it has to do with being part of a large dati community as much as the fact that their entire family, minus her, would need this. People who dont even know them have been voting for them.

I've been voting for her the past week, since I think the Herzfelds are taken care of. honestly, I wish I could vote for all of the heroes. some of the stories are just so sad.

I don't think many people go on that site and then read through every single story and weigh who to vote for. Their kids must have gone through at least 3 private schools (Yeshiva) growing up. I'm sure each of those schools mentioned it on their Weekly Parshat HaShavua sheets. Then it went to everyone's FB. The Dati world is really a very large closed community. Till yesterday I just voted for them cause that's what I was asked to do here. Yesterday I looked around a little. Randomly I saw a single mom with two teenage sons each weighing about 300 pounds! That's who I would have voted for if I was just a good citizen voting for whomever I saw (they're gone today). I only read a few. They're all very sad (no one writes happy things on this).

From now on I'm voting for Tamar Swerdlik. The Herzfelds have excessive votes so let's try to get Tamar into the Top ten for the raffle too. She definitely isn't the saddest most needy story there but we can't save the world so we try to help other dati people

The story was posted on arutz7, theyeshivaworld, and as well as others I'm sure. Jews are happy to do such accessible chessed.
I think I'll vote for Tamar too in the remaining days.
