My guess is the technology I read about that uses electrodes to stimulate the taste buds so that we feel like we are tasting specific foods. All the fun of eating without the weight gain!

Having read Larry Niven's fantasy novels where "mana" (a real word in Austronesian languages) is the power behind magic, I imagine it's just some sufficiently advanced technology ...
