Starting your own business from home

I'm wondering if there are any moms out there that have started their own business successfully and work from home? Also, how did you start? how long did it take you?

I have two toddlers and a baby. My two toddlers will be hopefully in school next year so I'll be alone with my baby in the house. I've been searching for jobs online to do at home and haven't found really something great and I know the payment isn't as much. So I'm wondering if I should take a risk and start my own business at home. I know it takes time and effort, so I'm wondering if any mom managed to do that with kids in the house. My husband is a teacher and I REALLY want to help out financially so my kids could later on go to yeshiva and we could move to a bigger place. I told my husband that I rather make an aliyah to Israel because I have no idea how our kids will be able to go to these yeshivas in NYC (too expensive for us). But in the meantime, I'm hoping to come up with a business that would help us financially.

Plenty of people are self employed and pay their bills. You have to start with your strengths and interests? Do you want to sell something or provide a service? Do you have experience or a degree? Those are all good places to start.
