Is the Yiddish at the beginning authentic?

It's on Netflix.

It was not chasidishe yiddish but I thought it was pretty good litvish yiddish nonetheless. I recognized one of the actors who usually plays yiddish speaking roles- http://www.imdb.com/name/nm138.....cl_t1

It's 1902. It's not meant to be chassidish. These were pre-war immigrants -- just regular Jews.

Adam Sandler's personal charisma makes middling movies bearable.

I actually thought it was pretty scary and a little too violent for my taste but it was otherwise entertaining

Yes, the Yiddish seems accurate.
Different kind of movie for Sandler. I enjoyed it.
