I'm involved now in a story from the other side of the fence about a parent who is going to be kicked out of school for a specific reason. The problem is that the school doesn't want to tell the parent the real reason (there may be legal problems in doing that), so they would be vague or give a fake reason like the principal op is dealing with.

I'm sorry op that this is your lot, but coming from the other side, I'm here to tell you that tuition-paying parents have to be a huge headache for the school in some other way in order for them to make the decision to kick you out. Don't kid yourself about it.

Where is this fantasy world where schools work together to find the best school for a child???? I want to go there. Are there unicorns there too?

I think it's the same one with the sorting hat, mentioned above.

Although even there I'm not sure that wizarding school is the right choice for everyone with magical abilities. What happens if your talent develops before 11? I hear the magically enriched foods available nowadays bring that on sometimes. Or what if you would be happier as a technology user? Maybe Anthony Goldstein would be better off staying in yeshiva and learning from a private tutor after school how not to set his chavrusa on fire?

If it's illegal, why are they doing it?

So ... a school is going to tell parents that their children have no place to go to school next year. And the "reason" is potentially illegal, and seems to have something to so with the administration considering the parents to be "a huge headache." Let me guess. Kid with an IEP, and the parents are demanding that the school actually follow it! And, to add insult to injury, the school decided to wait to make this pronouncement until summer, just to be sure that classes at other schools were filled, scholarships awarded to others, and that administrators whom the parents would need to contact on vacation.

Don't kid yourself about it.

If a school can't meet a child's needs, it should be up front about it. As soon as that determination is made, the parents should be called in. "The teachers have noted that Malka has problems with reading. We told you that last year, and together, we made these changes. We tried A through F, without success. We think that Malka would do better in a school with a full time reading specialist. We will work with you to make that happen."

Of course, that would relate to MALKA, not Malka, Ruti and Ruchy. Obviously its not the kids when you kick out the whole mishpacha.

So don't YOU kid yourself about it. The school is probably acting illegally, as you say, and is certainly acting maliciously and capriciously.
