Don't apologize! It's easy to forget to mention your location when you live right next to the center of the world (the center of the world being Flatbush Brooklyn, of course).
I recommend calling the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. But I take my music a little seriously Maybe they can recommend someone or perhaps you'd be willing to go down.

I can give you recommendations in crown heights if you would travel.
While there's plenty of people who can mess around with a 1 man band keyboard, it would be worthwhile going to someone who can actually teach proper technique and reading.
I know a professional, Chassidishe violin teacher in bp.
