Bactroban INSIDE the nose worked for my friend in the bungalow colony.

I'm dealing with this right now... trying to give bleach baths twice a week. Bactraban in the nose on the belly button, finger nails, backside, and infected areas.
Anononymous because many people know that I am dealing with this now.

Bleach baths, mupirocin cream in nose and on infected areas. Treat EVERYONE, not just those presenting with symptoms.

Like others mentioned put Bactroban in the nose before going to sleep and in the morning. If someone has a cut or scratch or zit put Bactroban on it and cover it so Mrsa doesn't develop there and turn into cellulitis. Use dial body wash or iodine when in the shower. Lastly, wash your hands a lot for at least 15 seconds using antibacterial soap. Good luck! I had this a month ago and my husband too. Feel better

Also sit in a zits bath for at least a half hour twice a day, should bring down the swelling and redness.

We had a MRSA scare.
We did everything listed above, but the bleach bath burned the skin. The infection didn't get better, so it was surgically removed and tested. BH it wasn't MRSA, but a different infection that can return.
It came back, but we caught it right away. A warm bath allowed us to drain it.
If it comes back again, my DC will have to go to an infectious desiese doctor.

New amother here.
What are the benefits of dial body wash over other soaps like dove bar soap?
Should us parents put bactroban in our nostrils too if 2 children have?
Should I ask doctors right from the start to prescribe the antibiotics (Bactrim and Clindamycin) for a month instead of the 10 days? First child diagnosed last week. Second child this week.

We used hibiclens wash 2x week. And bleach baths 2x per week. The whole family has to put bactroban in the nose for 10 days. Keep nails short. Disinfect commonly touched surfaces like doorknobs and light switches.
The antibiotics will only treat current infection but will do nothing to keep it from recurring.

We treated every single person in our home and our day care's home at the same exact time. We were all sticking mucoporin up our noses for a week. The children were bathed often --I avoided the bleach bath. BH, it did not come back after that!
