I just started my 21 month old in playgroup. So far, he was unhappy and kvetchy at pickup. He cries a little at drop off, but I can hear him laughing as soon as I shut the door behind me. Also, I work, so he has always been left with a sitter, he is used to me leaving for part of the day. This is his first time in a group. The Morah said he hasn't been napping well. He falls asleep very late and then wakes up shortly before I come. How much time should I give him to adjust to the new setting? At what point might it be the place rather the new situation? His first day was Monday.

I know it is very hard to leave your baby. Some kids just take longer to adjust. Do you believe it is a loving place with safe ratio? Give it two weeks or so before you switch. It is an adjustment for your son to be in a daycare center. It will get better.
