I dont have much energy to be working in the kitchen on a fast day. But my sons (7 and 9) baked soft pretzels today and made fresh squeezed lemonade, so we'll start with that. Once I get my strength restored I'll cut watermelon and make omelettes.

Freshly baked rolls and scrambled eggs. I used to make soup, flounder and a salad, but I learnt over the years that after a fast your eyes are bigger than your stomach and nooone can eat so much.

You're all making me so hungry! And I'm not even fasting!

I love to eat soup in any season but can't figure out how to make it in the summer, it's so hot that I'm not inclined to turn anything on in the kitchen for more than a few minutes.

DH swears by applesauce after a fast. We break our fast on that and lots water/juice. Later (when we're in the mood, usually 1/2 hour later) I've got veggie soup and shabbos leftovers. The veggie soup comes out of the freezer.
