Because it's just soap and it's cheap. You don't want to use a "moisturizing bar" which purports not to dry out skin. The whole point IS to dry out--I.e. degrease--the fabric. using a "moisturizing soap" will defeat the purpose.

I've had great success with Palmolive dish soap for getting out the ring around the collar and any grease based stain. Dish soap is meant to get out grease and the ring around the collar is generally oil based. Just scrub on with an old toothbrush. I use the free and clear one just in case the colored ones may stain.
