The kindle fire was a good deal. It was $60 off the MSRP. Amazon sometimes runs sales where it's $20, $30 or $40 off the MSRP but never $60.

We bought it in April for the same price. I think it was a one day deal.

I picked up a lot of small random household and office items that were either good deals or the same as I can get them in a store, but saves us the trip. I also picked up the kindle and did no rush shipping on about 10 orders and got a $3 credit to use for ebooks for each order, plus a $5 credit for pet supplies which I can definitely use. I also picked up a $25 sephora gift card for $20, which is great because I order from them regularly, too.

Its Amazon Prime day again, and supposed to be better this year.

Can anyone give me general advice on how to get a good deal?

I work for a company that tests home and kitchen products, and our staff checks all the Prime Day deals to find the good ones (a lot aren't good--either not actually a good discount or the lowest-ever price, or the product is junky). You can see the deals we recommend here:

http://thesweethome.com/deals/

One great deal: If you have Prime and buy a $50 Amazon gift card (just email it to yourself) you get a $10 credit: use code GCPRIME16

Here's a couple that might be useful to imamothers:

Crock-pot 6 qt (has a 20 hour max cook time, though): $32, down from $50: https://www.amazon.com/Crock-P.....me-20

Instant pot electric pressure cooker $70 (this is a great pressure cooker, usually $120): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F.....D1MDN

Victorinox bread knife $30, down from $45: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008.....al-20

If anyone is looking for something specific (especially if it's kitchen or electronics) I might be able to help scan if there's a good deal.

I have Prime and I didn't shop today simply because there wasn't anything I needed.

Bought the charbroil gas grill for $65. Though I remember kollelbudget posting a couple of weeks ago for the same price or maybe $5 less. Oh well. I needed it anyway. I hope it's decent.
I didn't see anything crazy.
I would've loved to get an espresso machine for dirt cheap though! Didn't see any deals on that.
