I want to make a navel pastrami for shabbos day but I want it to taste like the pastrami and not like my cholent. I have just wrapped it in silver foil(took off plastic) in the past and it tasted like cholent shabbos day.
Can I leave it in the vaccum pack, wrap that in silver foil, and cook in cholent until shabbos day? Or is the plastic in the cholent not a good idea?
Thanks..
I know I can leave it in oven but I rather not have my oven goin all night

Leave it in the plastic. I believe your supposed to, it stays so much more moist that way. Delicious!
There is a method of cooking called sous vide that cooks vacuum packed meat on low temp in a water bath. This is similar to that.

It's meant to be cooked in the original plastic, taste like delicious pastrami.
But yeah, totally health hazardous.
