My son has been having speech therapy for a bit under a year. The therapist has really made a very big difference, and b"h, he's having his final evaluation and he will not be approved to continue.
- Does anyone know - is this evaluation the last time he has speech therapy? Or does it continue until the end of whatever period he was originally approved for? (ie, he was approved through August, but they're doing the evaluation in July.)
- Is it appropriate / accepted to give the therapist a thank you gift?
- What would be something I could give her?
- The therapist is really the therapist assistant. She came every week. The real therapist came once a month (or less). Do you give the main therapist something also? (I know she was in charge of mapping out the therapy, but I don't feel the level of appreciation towards her that I do to her assistant. Also, the assistant and my son really bonded, while the real therapist has no relationship with him.)
So... do I give the therapist something also? Or only the assistant? What about the caseworker? (this all depends to a degree on whether or not this evaluation will be the last session.)
Also - if it makes a difference - the therapist assistant gave my son a "hanukkah present" in December. I did not reciprocate because I was completely surprised by the gesture and by the time she came back I felt that it would be weird to give her a holiday present so much later. But I do think a thank you/good bye present would be nice.

A tip or gift card would be nice. I wouldn't give the main therapist, and certainly not the case worker.

What's a reasonable amount? (I don't want to seem stingy, but I don't want to pay more than I have to... but at the same time, I DO want to express my appreciation.)
