Vacationing w family, no kosher food and small fridge?

How do people manage if they're in an area with little or no kosher food, so they have to bring along most of their food, but all they have in the motel room is a small fridge? Man can not live on cereal.

Can you tell me what you would pack for your family to eat for two days, especially when you're out and about and appetites are big, when you're traveling with kids and grandkids, nowhere near a kosher place, except for a pretty expensive restaurant? Those small fridges dont fit that much.

Cold cuts take up little space in the fridge, and with rolls, ketchup, and mustard and canned pickles from a(n unrefrigerated) box, you have a full supper.
Alternatively, you can take along cheese and a sandwich maker. Make grilled cheese sandwiches.

If you can afford the time and bit of hassle while on the trip, you can save yourself a lot of space by not taking along ready-made foods. For example,
For lunch: If you take along canned tuna, salmon, sardines, some hard-boiled eggs and a closed small jar of mayonnaise, only the eggs need refrigeration, but you have a ton of options there. Combined with sliced bread, bagels, or rolls from a box.

Fruits and vegetables do not need refrigeration. Take along a knife, and if you want, a peeler, and add vegetables to sandwiches for lunch. The sandwich will be more filling, and of course, interesting. Fruits are easy snacks.

For supper: You can put up a crockpot of anything before you leave the hotel and come back to warm supper. Put in meat or chicken with potatoes and carrots. The raw meat takes up little space, and the raw potatoes and carrots don't need refrigeration.

I just wouldn't stay at a place with such a little fridge or I would bring a cooler with dry ice or regular ice and change the ice everyday.

Is there no kosher FOOD or just no kosher restaurants?

Is there any cooking facilities at all (a burner, microwave)?

For 2 days? For 2 days I could survive eating very basic. Cereal for breakfasts. PBJ lunch. Cold cuts sandwich dinner. Plus some fresh fruit that is just wash and eat. It's only 2 days!!!

we r experts at this already! we take an ice chest and empty it out each night and refill if with fresh ice! just made sure everything is wrapped and sealed well so u dont have things leaking into each other....
things we take:
cold cuts, cold cuts and more cold cuts! not the healthiest but we mainly to turkey breast so not terrible... we freeze them first
I make grilled chicken cutlets and freeze it. when we want to eat it we run it under hot water if able to...
string cheese
yogurts

basically freeze wtvr u can before u leave for ur trip and then put it in the ice chest with ice..

u can also bring things to grill... we sometimes do that but its a hassle...

Of course one could survive with cereal for two days, most people could survive without eating anything for two days but that wouldn't be conducive to a vacation. For many people, eating well is part of a good vacation experience.
