My family (and I!) gets bored with the usual foods... so I need to make little changes here and there, a different kugal, salad, whatever. what do you make that's a break from traditional? Any great ideas?

I don't break from tradition but I do make different things every week. My menu is fish, salad, dips, chicken or meat, grain, kugel, cooked vegie, fruit, baked good. I just make diff things every week. Like one week will be gefilte fish, jalapeƱo dip, cabbage salad, mushroom chicken, farfel, zucchini kugel, greenbeans, melon and babka. The next week is salmon, ceasar salad, chumus, skirt steak, quinoa, salt n pepper kugel, grilled portobellos, grapes and rainbow cake. In the winter I'll add a soup sometimes, like a classic chicken or diff vegie soups, and chulent.
