Does anyone know what's in the lid of the effervescent vitamins? When I opened the lid I noticed the inner white layer was pushed in and a spray of little 'pearls' came tumbling out. This morning one of my children said that little DS had eaten some of it yesterday. It's a day later and he seemed fine yesterday, I'd still like to know, what's inside? Is it silica? And though presumably inedible, how unsafe is it?

I just came across the following regarding Silica gel:
Silica gel is non-toxic, meaning that it is not poisonous if eaten. The package says "DO NOT EAT" because (1) it is not food, and (2) it could be a choking hazard. The whole packet, granules, or beads may become lodged in the throat of a small child or animal.
Can anyone confirm that the stuff in the lid is actually silica?
