Today was my daughter's first full day of first grade. She is fast asleep by the dining room table and has not even eaten dinner yet. She is exhausted. What do they do in first grade that she would come home this tired? Poor thing. I guess this might just have to be an adjustment that she gets used to.

Getting up early, not sleeping well because of the excitement the night before, too much input during the day, too much to take in all at once.

Put her to bed, she's probably too tired to be hungry anyway. Have a snack handy in case she wakes up hungry later on, but make sure she goes straight back to bed and doesn't stay up the rest of the night.

She'll adjust soon enough! Kids are really resilient like that.

We're a week into school and my 3rd grader fell asleep before dinner!

We changed schools and now get up way earlier and come home later, I think combination of new friends, new kind of schedule etc.

I find first few weeks of school exhausting every year and when there's a new kind of schedule. First grade in most schools is a very different level than Pre-1-A, they sit longer and are looked at as 'BIG' kids. There's a lot of pressure until they get used to it.

The first graders are tired because they're not used to sitting all day in one place.
It's exhausting
