I have a cake recipe that calls for vanilla sugar. I don't have any ... can I somehow substitute vanilla extract? If so.. how?

One place I read, it said half sugar for extract: 1 t extract, 1/2 t sugar. Another place I read said, 1 T extract, 1 t sugar. I would go with the latter, but I don't think it's a big deal.

Oops, I'm sorry, I meant I would go with the first one.

I use 1/2 extract to sugar. Extract is pretty strong in taste.
