If in your childs school, they grade shachris attendance, do they average into their GPA? They do in my ds school and since he has a hard time getting up, his GPA is much lower than it should be because otherwise he does well. They do give a way to make it up, but it has to be made up individually, not a whole and when you miss so many, it's very difficult. I'm not excusing my ds whatsoever, only asking if that's the norm.

My school didn't have a letter grade for it- you got detentions for being habitually late, and they graded davening overall as pass fail.
Have you spoken to the school about setting a goal that's realistic for him right now and grading of of that? They could weight performance in davening over promptness, or decide that for him, being on time on leining days constitutes full credit and the others would earn him extra. I don't know exactly.
Clearly the system is set up for those who miss a few here and there- your ds may need a different approach to help him be successful. The school is more likely to work with you if you approach them now to work with them.
