My DD is 3 weeks and is very very gassy. Most of the time its manageable, but its worst at night. She feeds and then wont fall back asleep after and needs to be held. Shes not like this during the day, she can do 4 hour stretches during the day but at night after a feed she cant fall back asleep. She has gas from her tushy and from her mouth it must be so painful.
What can I do to help her and why is it worst at night?

If you are breastfeeding - try to stop eating the foods that cause gas. Eliminate veggies as brokolie , cabbage, peas etc. If it doesn't help eliminate all dairy. Etc.
If you are bottle feeding- have you tried a different formula ? There are great ones for sensitive babies here in Israel !

How's your milk supply in the evening? For most women, it's strongest in the morning. If your baby is having trouble getting enough in the evening, she could be swallowing a lot of air that's making her gassy. As pps said, you can also try eliminating gassy foods from your diet, or simethicone drops.

Is she crying a lot, or just really gassy? If she's screaming her head off, then it's colic. Ask your pediatrician for some suggestions. BTDT
