ISO recipe for poor quality salmon (ASAP!)

I have a salmon fillet that I defrosted that looks and smells not too great. I am afraisd to do my regular lightly season and bake recipes.
What would you suggest??

Wash it very well under cold running water.
Soak it in lemon juice for 15 minutes.
Then use lots of fresh garlic to season.

If it smells bad, why on earth are you cooking it? It sounds like it spoiled.

Thanks. I will try to wash and soak and see how it feels afterwards.

Fresh fish shouldn't smell fishy. If is does, its on its way to being spoiled.

2 TBS Mayo, 2 TBS lemon juice, sprinkle salt, garlic powder & paprika = mix together & spread on top of fish. Broil for 20 mins
(you can add fresh garlic on top or minced garlic)

It could be it's just the skin and the brown bits near skin that smells fishy. If this is the case, cut off offending bit. One thing you can do is make salmon patties. Remove skin/big bones and cut about 1lb fish into small chunks, whizz a few times till chopped (but not pureed to paste). Add 1/2 finely chopped onion, 1 tbsp. matza meal or gram flour, chopped dill or coriander, 1 egg (beaten), a generous dash of salt, a pinch of grated ginger. Mix and form into a bite size patties, pan-fry. You can also make similar mix into fishloaf. Or escaveche would do (slice into bite size pieces, dredge in egg and flour, fry till cooked, marinate with julienned vegetables in vinegar/lemon juice w/a bit of sugar, pinenuts/currents optional).
