We used Xchange Telemcom before we got the internet. I think we paid about $30 a month.

With internet - use Google Voice with the Obi - you pay $30 for the equipment and then it's free!

Without internet - use Straight Talk Home Phone. You purchase a piece of equipment from Walmart for about $80 and then there is a $15/month monthly plan. It works off cell service, but it's designed for a home phone.

Both come with unlimited calling within the US, voicemail, caller ID, and call waiting. Google voice - you can also receive texts to your e-mail.

Good luck!

With either of these options, is there a way that keep your current landline phone number? What would I need to do to keep my number?

Yes - with Straight Talk you can just port your current landline online when you set up an account - I don't think there is a fee

Google voice - there is a $20 fee to port a number. I seem to recall that you can't directly port a landline, but you can port it to a prepaid service and then port it from there to Google Voice. Do a google search and you will see how many successfully did it.
