Challah dough is kneading in the machine now.
I need to leave in about 11/2 hours won't be back till 8 pm.
Should I let the dough rise in a warm place for the 11/2 and then put it in the fridge.
Or
Should I out it in the fridge right away
If I put it in the fridge right away,do I have to let it rise when I come back.

I'd put it straight in the fridge and then let it rise some once it's back at room temp.

Put it in the fridge, take it out and let it rise when you get back. It will take some time as it needs to get back to room temp, but it will have risen some even in the fridge so it won't need the full amount of rising time once it warms up. Put it in a warm place. I do this all the time.
