I never make meat, and wanted to be brave and treat my family to an easy looking recipe from by cookbook for a 5 lb. roast. However, when I went to the store this morning they didn't have that. Instead I bought a 2 and a half pound top of the rib roast. I bought it, but don't want this to be a flop. Can I just halve the recipe and cook it the same way? Thanx.

So, no one liked it. It was really dry. I don't want to throw it out. Any way to help it?

Shred it into small pieces, marinate in the sauce of your choice to rehydrate, and then throw it into a stir-fry.
Or slice thin and make into sandwiches with plenty of mustard.
