I have part of this song stuck in my head. I remember singing it in a choir many years ago.
I googled it and came up with a Peter Paul and Mary song, but it doesn't sound quite right. Did a frum person remake it? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Peter Yarrow wrote the song and yes, it was performed by PP&M for the first time at Carnegie Hall in the 80's. It is one of his political songs in response to what was going on in El Salvador at the time. (Archbishop Romero had been assassinated and right wing death squads were exterminating people town by town.)He has always identified as a liberal Jew.

It's originally their song. At some point Benny Friedman did a cover of it but didn't change any words.
The Maccabeats recently did it also and out it on their new Chanuka album

it was written by peter yarrow of peter, paul, and mary. benny friedman did change the word "justice" to "goodness."
peter, paul, and mary's sound depends on whether you listen to a version done with a background choir or without. here's one with:
