Tips for Early intervention therapists?

Is it customary to tip EI therapists? My DD sees 3 and they all gave her Chanukah presents that we had no idea they were going to give...so are we expected to tip?

If it helps, we are in the nyc area.

I think they are not allowed to accept any gifts from families but a nice card can really go a long way.

Why can't they accept gifts? I see it as only fair to show appreciation... They work so hard and we don't pay for it, a gift can go a long way and show them we appreciate what they do!

They are not allowed to accept any payment directly from clients/families but I am pretty sure that nobody is going to nitpick over a reasonable holiday gift. Don't give cash because that could be construed as payment, even though the likelihood of anyone ever finding out is slim. But if you give a box of chocolates or some other token of appreciation I think that's appropriate. EI therapists invest a lot of heart and energy into each child.
