Help. My DD age 3 comes home from school at 4:30. She is usually cranky and wants a nap. I shlep it out until about 6:30-7 with dinner and baths and put her in by 7. It is now 9 o'clock. Been in bed for 2 hours and she is still not sleeping. She is overtired and cannot fall asleep. I am going crazy. What can I do?

What does your bedtime routine look like?
Has she always been like this or is it something new?

When are you doing the bath? I find that baths can help perk up a tired kid and they often do not leave my kids relaxed and sleepy. I think the bedtime bath is a crazy myth. When my kid gets like this I prefer to try plopping her in a bath earlier in the day, let her splash around as long as I can handle being tied down to the bathroom (keeps her happy and awake for that long...) and then go into pajamas, relaxed play, dinner, winding down, etc.
