How should I word a thank you card for a generous (and expensive) baby gift that I plan to return since I have no use for it? The gift was from someone who I didn't even expect to give anything. I would like to write a nice card, but I am struggling with how to word it.

Thank you so much for the beautiful gift. Your generosity is much appreciated.

I would like to write something a little more than those three short sentences...

Why can't you write the same thing that you would write for a gift that you would keep?
The fact that you are returning it should make no difference in the thank you card.
Mazel tov btw.

Dear ____,
Thank you so much for the ______. (Even if returned, why not list it? Are they going to search your shelves? Otherwise say "generous gift" but I do that with $$). It was so very thoughtful of you! It was so nice seeing you at the bris/kiddush. We hope to share in many more Simchas with you!
