Today at the lounge in the airport there was only one seat left. It had garbage under it. When it was time to board a lady shouted at me repeatedly to clean up after myself. I told her it wasn't mine and she continued to yell at me. What should I have said?

Sounds reasonable to me. I would have phrased it like, "Sorry, ma'am, but air travel is exhausting enough without having to clean up other people's garbage. I'm going to leave that for the custodial staff."

That's upsetting. But who cares.
She doesn't know you. Just move on.

don't know that I would have sat there ... but being it was the last seat what choice did you have ... you cannot do much more than saying it wasn't your garbage as you did
she probably meant well in keeping the universe clean & simply had no idea it was not your garbage

You could have done either
1) asked the staff to clean up before you sat down,
2) just ignore the yelling staff.
It should have been the staff's job to clean and maintain the premises.
