has anyone tried to make homemade coconut milk from desiccated coconut? I have a recipe that calls for coconut milk.
can I substitute soy milk for coconut milk?

If desicated coconut is dried, unsweetened coconut shreds, then yes, I do make coconut milk from dessicated coconut.
You probably could substitute soy milk or almond milk

I make my own on pesach from fresh coconut. There is coconut milk with a Hechsher available.

how do you make it? I don't have a sieve, and the instructions on the internet said drain it in a sieve lined with cheesecloth. I have a sifter, could that work?
