My ds does drink his soup with a straw or with a straw sippy cup. I just monitor how long he has it until I wash it. He does use a spoon/straw from a bowl sometimes, but it usually does get spillled LOL Does your dd use a sippy cup?
DS tested negative for goats milk allergy but the products are hard to find or super expensive.
Do you have a blender? You said you didnt have one for smoothies but have one for orange juice? If you can get coconut flakes, you can easily and cheaply make coconut milk. Almond milk is much more expensive to make.

Thanks for the headsup about the spills! Yes, she uses a sippy. My hangup is that I'm afraid it's going to smell. Sounds worth a try. I can buy an extra/cheaper one.

My food processor has a special citrus blade, that's how I can make OJ. Although, I've never tried it. This thread is making me in the mood. Don't have a blender.

Chia seeds rich in iron calcium magnesium & protein , add 2 tbs to cup of soup or juice wait 5 minutes to gel then mix & serve my 1 yr old grabs mine from me.

knee bones soup, salt & pepper, fresh garlic to taste, add cup of (apple cider) vinegar , to leech minerals out of bones ,makes delicious soup rich in calcium

Soy is usually loaded with pesticide

Hi OP, my DS is the same, he also has dairy intolerance, aged 4 now. Our paediatric gastroenterologist (very well-known and reputable here) told us when he was first diagnosed aged 18 months that he should have a daily dose of Vitamin D because it helps a person digest the calcium of other foods better. We actually give him a daily dose of multivitamins which includes the RDA of Vit D.
Other than that I try to give him a balanced diet, and I include proteins that aren't dairy, e.g. fish, meat, etc, as other mothers have recommended above.
The specialist also said that there's no particular reason to give him soy products, as there's no nutritional benefit. He said if he needs a milk-alternative (e.g. for his breakfast), then he'd recommend almond or oat milk. DS likes Oat milk best.
Because he's jealous of his older brother's daily yogurt pot, I give him a soy yogurt alternative (which the specialist okayed).
I hope that helps!

Your DS is no fool, read label Almond milk barely has any almond in it, synthetic calcium added. Oat milk is closer to real deal & less sugar too. Some kids like coconut yogurt

Soak it right away. I have one designated sippy. You just have to remember about it

Actually, having used oats for other remedies (eg eczema and immersing in bath water during our chicken pox season), I actually think you might be able to make your own oat milk. If you put a large handful of oats in a clean sock and immerse in bowl of boiling water, let it stand for a 5 mins and then squeeze the sock multiple times with a spoon, it releases all the goodness into the water and if it's not too diluted it will look (and taste?) similar to shop-bought version.or is that unwise? Does manufactured oat milk contain something extra that can't be recreated at home??

Almond butter is "shkedia". It is advertised all over and available in health food stores, among other places.
Meat bones are unavailable or very expensive since there is very little shechita here, and the bones are too heavy to make it worth shipping. The bones I have seen are as expensive as meat.

Good point. The question is really if she'll drink it. Until now, she only drinks water and formula (and I guess breastmilk, going back). Some family members were once worried about her b/c she had diarrhea and wasn't drinking a lot. I acquiesced to Gatoraid. To everyone's surprise, she didn't like it! I was proud. That was awhile ago, though.

What's funny is that all her stuff is pareve/fleishigs already. Didn't bother to have anything for michigs since she doesn't eat it anyway.
