The piano teacher is frum or at least traditional. Do you think it's preferable not to have a man teach a girl?

If he comes to your house, I think it's ok. If she goes to his house, not ok at all.

Im not blaming this girl, but what kind of parent keeps a lesson with a teacher when they are out of town and the child, yes, a 17 year old is a child, goes to her bedroom with the teacher? Something sounds very off with that story.
OP, I had a male piano teacher when I was young. It was completely fine. He came to my house and my mother was always in the next room and he was a wonderful teacher.

Only if
1) there is a shomer (like parents) present at all times
and
2) he's the best teacher for your daughter
My son's male flute teacher had a small home studio where he taught. There was a tiny waiting room outside the studio with a window where you could watch the lesson.

I had male music teachers as a child and as a teen with no problem. Most men are not pedophiles.
