I'm trying to get files from an old hard drive onto a new computer. I have a thing that you put the hard drive into and then it connects to the new computer with a USB cable. I remember using it once before for this same thing. But now when I click the drive of the old hard drive, it says I need to format the drive before I can use it. And when I click ok, it gives me a warning that it will erase my data. But then I can't use it. How do I use this thing???

Go to a professional, it's not worthwhile to risk

For now I'll just use a small USB thing then. Thank you for responding.

don't format the drive - that will erase your data and you don't want that
I work in computers and usually a setup like that will let you get the data off of it but if the drive is formatted differently then you need a different setup to get the data off
