I know I'm more than a little late but...you can still make it for Pesach in a few months.
I made it a few times last Pesach, each time there were no leftovers. I would definitely make this during the year. It also works well using 8 apples and omitting the pears.
Apple Pear Crumble
Crumble
2 cups potato starch
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup oil
1/2 cup ground nuts
Mix together by hand.
Filling
4 Cortland apples
4 pears
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon (opt.)
Thinly slice apples and pears add sugar and cinnamon.
Pour half the crumb mixture into a 9x13 pan, lay the apple mixture on top, cover with remaining crumb topping.
Bake @ 350 for 1 1/2 hours.

I have a bunch of pears that are, to be delicate, past their prime, so I'm happy to have stumbled upon this. But quick question, would you use this as a sweet side dish, like a kugel? Or more like a cake?
Thanks!
Edited for Spelling (mixed up pairs/pears)

It doesn't resemble a cake at all.
It could probably pass for a sweet kugel OR a dessert.

Thank you, September June. That was really yummy! I throw out almost all my pesach leftovers once chag is over, but we're going to keep eating that crisp

I made it three times this Pesach. The first time I baked it for two hours and it was great. The second time for only about an hour and it wasn't as good. The third time I baked it for three hours and it was unbelievably good! The apples were very soft and the crust on top more crispy. I start it on 375 for a bit and then lower the over to 350 so it can bake for longer without burning.

I must have written this in another thread about this recipe. I made it too and it came out great but what I always do with apple crumble is I microwave the apples beforehand to soften them before I put together the crumble itself. This way you can cut the baking time significantly and don't run the risk of burning the crumble. I think I baked mine 45 min. It was indeed very yummy as others have said.

Just wanted to give this a bump up.
I was looking for an apple crisp recipe before yontif and found this. I started laughing so hard when I saw that *I* had left a comment last year (no recollection of it, frankly!). I do remember saving the leftovers, since that is a rare occurrence around here
Moadim l'simcha and thanks for posting this, September June.

I'm just amused that here I am again on Pesach (two years later) looking for a recipe for the huge number of apples sitting in my fridge. And (again) I have no memory of making this recipe! Sure am glad I didn't post anonymously in previous times
btw, I omit the nuts and it comes out fine.
Off to make this recipe. Thanks and Good Yontif everyone!

4sis, the same thing happens to me when I come across an old thread & notice that I've already commented (while having no recollection whatsoever.)
I hope to make this today and was wondering if I need to keep it in the fridge. Any advice appreciated. TIA

Me too!
Often I'll have no recollection either.
Scary....
I made it last night and put it in the fridge when it cooled off.
I like to store baked goods that contain fruit in the fridge, especially in warm weather.
I don't know if it is strictly necessary though.
